    Monte Rosso

    Monte Rosso is about 3 kilometers from the town of Realmonte, its name derives from the reddish color of the tuff (rock which is composed).
    It stands on the western coast of the Realmonte coast and is home to thick Mediterranean scrub.

    On the mountain, there is the ancinet watchtower, which takes its name from it, built in 1453 to scan the area for searching Saracen boats (Turks), coursairs coming from the East who aimed to plunder the towns overlooking the Mediterranean sea.
